Mission Viejo is the neighborhood directly south of Meadowood, across Hampden Avenue, and it gets the full list of services, including heat pump and electric heat repair and furnace repair.
Hampden Avenue, Quincy Avenue, Buckley Road and Chambers Road are the main roads around Mission Viejo on the City of Aurora's neighborhood map. The curving local streets carry the neighborhood's Spanish-mission naming: Mission Parkway, Alicia Parkway and Marguerite Parkway, plus Mansfield Avenue, Nassau Drive and Kenyon Drive.
Mission Viejo Housing
The city's subdivision records list Mission Viejo filings 1 through 18 between 1972 and 1981, with French Creek, Quincy Creek and Quincy Place following in the mid 1980s. In the Census tract covering the northern half of the neighborhood, every home counted is a detached house and the median build year is 1979 (Mission Viejo tract data). Close to nine in ten homes there are owner-occupied.
Gas heats about two thirds of Mission Viejo homes and electricity most of the rest. The electric share runs a little higher here than in Meadowood, so heat pumps and electric furnaces come up alongside gas furnaces. Many of these houses are on their second furnace and their second or third air conditioner, and some have had a furnace swapped from 80 percent to 90 percent with new PVC vent pipes through a side wall.
Parks, Library and School
Mission Viejo Park sits near the middle of the neighborhood, with Los Ninos Park and La Parquita Park on the side streets. The Aurora Public Library's Mission Viejo Branch is in the neighborhood, and Mission Viejo Elementary School is inside the neighborhood. Unlike Meadowood, Mission Viejo is in the Cherry Creek School District (Cherry Creek School District), which serves parts of Aurora and Centennial.
Around Mission Viejo
Meadowood is north across Hampden, Summer Valley and Quincy Reservoir are to the south-east, and Meadow Hills is to the west past Chambers Road. All are part of the Aurora service area.
