Meadowood is the southeast Aurora neighborhood this business is named for, and every service on this site covers it, from gas furnace repair and fall tune-ups to no-heat calls at any hour.
On the City of Aurora's official neighborhood map, Hampden Avenue, Buckley Road, Chambers Road and Parker Road all run through or along Meadowood, with Yale Avenue to the north. Local streets include Dartmouth Avenue, Floyd Avenue, Kalispell Street, Laredo Street and Eagle Street. Meadowood is in ZIP code 80013 and in Arapahoe County. Hampden Avenue is State Highway 30 (Colorado State Highway 30) and Parker Road is State Highway 83.
Meadowood Homes and Their Furnaces
The Meadowood plats were filed with the city between 1970 and 1977, during the years when Aurora was one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. The Census tract that covers most of the neighborhood has a median build year of 1976, and about 85 percent of its homes are detached houses. In the tract on Meadowood's east side, about 91 percent of homes went up in the 1970s (Meadowood east tract data).
Gas heats about 72 percent of homes in the main Meadowood tract, with electricity heating most of the rest (Meadowood census tract data). In practice that means basement and utility closet gas furnaces, many of them second or third replacements sitting on the original 1970s ductwork and flue. Ranch, bi-level and two-story houses each put the furnace in a different spot, and the lowest level of a bi-level is often the coldest room in the house.
Parks and Landmarks in Meadowood
Meadowood Park follows the Meadowood Creek drainage through the middle of the neighborhood in two parcels. Eagle Park sits on the west side, and the small Meadowood Triangle green is on the north side. The Mission Viejo Shopping Center falls inside the city's Meadowood boundary, even though it carries the name of the neighborhood to the south. Olympic Park, Hill Top Park and Eldorado Park are just outside. Meadowood students attend Aurora Public Schools (Aurora Public Schools).
